The ineffable Terrance Zdunich is coming to Wicked Faire, along with a big-screen showing of Repo: The Genetic Opera, including a live shadowcast! Find out more below!!
First off, we'd like to thank Pretty Scary, which was kind enough to link to us when they named Terrance Scary Stud of the Year. And we want to thank the good people of our Wicked Village, who helped us create the content for this page!

Now, Wikipedia says, "Terrance Zdunich is an American actor, writer, composer, and storyboard artist. He, with Darren Smith, composed and wrote both the short film and theatrical film Repo! The Genetic Opera. Zdunich also had a starring role in the film as GRAVEROBBER (See an excerpt here) - and was the illustrator for all the animation sequences throughout the film." I'd add that he's also a very talented artist and illustrator, as you can tell from the artwork he did for Repo, and in the galleries on his page.
But let's get down to business here.
If you're already coming here as a Repo fan, I probably don't have to say much else, except:
Not only is this Terrance's very first convention appearance... but this event, if you don't know it, is run by wonderful friendly maniacs who devote their lives to the amazing and the weird, and we are going to do all that is in our power to make sure that Terrance has a spectacular time and you have a chance to enjoy his company in ways beyond even the awesome Repo Road Tour. (I was at a stop on the tour, and it was fantastic, and I'd go again in a heartbeat. But the Road Tours were only an evening... we are three days, and I will work my guts out to try to make them incredible all around.
If you don't know Repo, or don't know Terrance, and are wondering... if you'll like the movie, if it's "the next Rocky Horror", if this is something that will interest you...
I'll say truly that I know a lot of people who've seen it, and most of them love it; a lot of them have become maniacal fans after just a single showing. I know a few people who disliked some or part of the movie, but even they generally feel that you should definitely check the movie out: If you even think you might enjoy it, then it's an experience that you will be glad you've had. Is it the next Rocky? I'm not qualified to say, but as someone who spent a good decade doing a whole lot of Rocky Horror, I can say that, like Rocky Horror, I adore this movie and the chance to see it with a crazy audience, and they are both experiences without which my life would be far poorer.
What are some things that Terrance will be up to at Wicked Faire?
You know, Terrance has been really damn busy. And he hasn't done a convention before... which means that he'll be in the process of finding out what he enjoys and what's comfortable for him. It's incredibly important to us that our guests be comfortable. So some of it is going to get played by ear; we'll see how things seem to work well, and what will be best for everybody.
Some of what's planned are:
- His attendance and perhaps some sort of participation at our Repo Showing and Shadowcasting on Friday night.
- A Q&A session on Saturday!
- Hanging out in our Steampunk Area at a vendor table and talking to folks, signing autographs, and selling Zydrate.
- Being part of the Repo documentary being filmed at Wicked Faire!
Have there been any great suggestions?
Well, my favorite was "Sing `Zydrate Anatomy' while playing the ukelele and doing a handstand.............in latex bodypaint! Oh and drink absinthe and just party with the little people. But let's hold that one in reserve for now, okay? What else might happen?
Well, if you've not met him, Terrance is awesome. I am betting you can probably buy him dinner at The Auld Shebeen pub at the hotel. I'm really hoping he'll want to come to some of our famous unofficial parties. And I'm going to ask him if he'd like to be on some of our panels.
Mostly, I think this quote from the Wicked Village summed up thoughts on how we should treat him:
Having crush on the man, good.
Crushing the man, bad.
Or, as another Villager put it:
I think it would be fun to just party with him and have a good time. I'm sure he has some great stories!
Finally - as has been noted elsewhere, Repo and Terrance could both use a bit of support. If you're a fan of the film, we definitely suggest you get a copy of the movie on DVD or Blu-Ray, as that helps show the studio that the films have an audience. You can also help him out by checking out his upcoming work: according to his Pretty Scary interview, Terrance is a contributing editor and illustrator for "Fantastique", a new magazine which focuses on Fantasy, Sci-Fi, & Horror movies (coming out late March!) He's quoted as saying "It’s the English language version of Europe's oldest (in print since 1969) and most esteemed “genre” periodical, L'Ecran Fantastique."
